I dedicated one chapter to my beloved crocodiles and the role still photography played in the preparation for the shooting and production of our up and coming feature documentary “Touch of the Blue Crocodile“.

….this may sound corny, but it is a true honor to publish alongside so many outstanding photographers.

This unique publication was edited by Fulvio Eccardi and Oscar Moctezuma and produced with the support of Scotiabank.

Tying the interior design with the natural beauty of the outdoors in one shot was my main focus. There are however many attractive views and vignettes in and around the home to fill the photographer’s time and camera’s memory cards!

I also must have stopped a 100 times at the window cut out of the division wall made of naked grey brick, which so cleverly frames the silhouette of the Cerro del Mono.

Whatever it is that makes it so, Mataiza felt very right to me. And as a photographer, that always makes your job so much more easier and enjoyable.

The event took place here, in Puerto Vallarta – my home when a crew of crocodile specialists from the local university campus came upon a nest ready to hatch but without the mother in sight. Crocodiles, unlike for instance sea turtles, need mother’s assistance to dig out of the nest. Without her help they suffocate. After a bit of thought on part of the scientists, a decision was made to uncover the nest and help the crocodiles out.

Needless to say, it was an unforgettable experience.  Thirty wild crocodiles were born in our hands that day. The few quick shots I managed to take were used to make this comics.

One photo actually made it to the Your Shot Daily Dozen selection by National Geographic website (last photo).

The exposition has been shown in Mexico City and Guadalajara and hopes are that invitation to Puerto Vallarta will be accepted.

After all, my photo of tropical forest participating in the expo was photographed right here – at the edge of the city, where streets and houses abruptly end and prime forest begins.

We are “good” at throwing fuel into the fire and cause almost all problematic situations by our improper behavior. Feeding wild crocs is one of the DON’Ts. Unfortunately I witness this over and over again. Here, a wild croc approaches to grab a fish thrown to him.

Remember DON’T feed wild crocodiles!
